Our journey with Woodfiring

In 2017 we built the Whistlepig Wood Kiln, a catenary arch crossdraft kiln. We fire 2-3 times a year for about 24 hours per firing. It takes a crew both for the building and firing, but it is a labor of love. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, kissed by fire, wood ash, and soda vapor. Each firing we experiment with new and unconventional clay bodies, never knowing what we will get!
